Elín Hall is an award-winning Icelandic singer, songwriter, and actress whose creative voice moves fluidly between music and cinema. Acclaimed for her piercing lyricism, cinematic storytelling, and genre-blurring alt-pop sound, she is emerging as one of the most vital voices of her generation, blending vulnerability, power, and vision across mediums.
Her 2024 Icelandic-language album heyrist í mér? (“Can you hear me?”) marked a major breakthrough in Iceland, winning Album of the Year at the Reykjavík Grapevine Music Awards, the Kraumur Award, and producing multiple No. 1 singles on national radio. The album earned three Icelandic Music Awards nominations, solidifying Hall’s reputation for emotionally intelligent, richly poetic songwriting.
In 2024, Hall began releasing her first English-language material, collaborating with Grammy-winning producer Martin Terefe (Adele, YUNGBLUD). Her debut single in this phase, Heaven to a Heathen, premiered live on BBC Radio 1 and Iceland’s Rás 2 as part of Europe’s Biggest Gig, introducing her to an international audience. Her latest single, Wolf Boy (August 2025), explores identity and perception with haunting intimacy, showcasing the novelistic scope of her songwriting. “There’s something compelling about stepping into the version of yourself that someone else creates,” she says.
As a live performer, Hall has captivated audiences across Iceland and Europe. She has returned repeatedly to Iceland Airwaves, opened major stages at BludFest and for The Smashing Pumpkins, and will perform as support for Laufey during the A Matter of Time tour in March 2026 at Kórinn in Kópavogur, Reykjavík. She will also appear at Eurosonic Noorderslag 2026 as the third most recommended emerging artists.
Alongside her musical achievements, Hall has drawn significant acclaim as an actress. She won Best Actress at both the Chicago International Film Festival and the Edda Awards (Icelandic Film Academy) for her lead role in When the Light Breaks (2024), which premiered in Un Certain Regard at Cannes. She was named one of European Film Promotion’s Shooting Stars 2025, spotlighting Europe’s ten most promising young actors. Her previous acting accolades include Edda nominations for Let Me Fall (2019) and Cold (2024), as well as roles in the TV series Case and portraying a young Vigdís Finnbogadóttir, Iceland’s first female president, in the series Vigdís.
A graduate of the Icelandic Academy of the Arts, Hall’s artistic journey began in her teens, performing at Eurovision Iceland qualifiers and creating music and film projects from her bedroom. Her multidisciplinary versatility and emotional depth mark her as a uniquely compelling storyteller, equally at home delivering evocative music or deeply resonant performances on screen.
With a full-length English-language album slated for 2026, and a rapidly growing international presence, Elín Hall continues to push creative boundaries, crafting art that connects, challenges, and resonates across the world.
